Neo-Darwinism Ne`o-Dar"win*ism, n. The theory which holds natural selection, as explained by Darwin, to be the chief factor in the evolution of plants and animals, and denies the inheritance of acquired characters; -- esp. opposed to {Neo-Lamarckism}.
