One of a large group of beetles ({Rhynchophora}) of many genera; -- called also {weevils}, {snout beetles}, {billbeetles}, and {billbugs}. Many of the species are very destructive, as the plum curculio, the corn, grain, and rice weevils, etc. [1913 Webster]
