Tonsil Ton"sil, n. [L. tonsill?, pl.: cf. F. tonsille. ] (Anat.) One of the two glandular organs situated in the throat at the sides of the fauces. The tonsils are sometimes called the {almonds}, from their shape. [1913 Webster]
