Bougainvillaea Bou`gain*vil*l[ae]`a, n. [Named from Bougainville, the French navigator.] (Bot.) A genus of plants of the order {Nyctoginace[ae]}, from tropical South America, having the flowers surrounded by large bracts. [1913 Webster]
