Shroud Shroud (shroud), n. [OE. shroud, shrud, schrud, AS. scr[=u]d a garment, clothing; akin to Icel. skru[eth] the shrouds of a ship, furniture of a church, a kind of stuff, Sw. skrud dress, attire, and E. shred.
