{Hydrofluoric acid} (Chem.), a colorless, mobile, volatile liquid, {HF}, very corrosive in its action, and having a strong, pungent, suffocating odor. It is produced by the action of sulphuric acid on fluorite, and is usually collected as a solution in water.
